Edwin and Karen Engagement in Queen Elizabeth Park–Vancouver Wedding Photography

by snow on May.17, 2010, under photography blog entries

It has been so long since I posted images onto my blog that I got a question last week, “Do you still photograph?”

Yes, I am still actively shooting. One of recent my favourite sessions was with Edwin and Karen for their engagement. The session was special for many reasons. I have been with friends with Karen for so many years that I can’t remember. We share a group of mutual friends. It’s always such a humbling honour when a friend hires me for their family or wedding photography. Maybe it’s just me, but I think it’s one thing to hang out over dinner, and it’s another to trust a friend with your wedding memories for the rest of your life.

If I haven’t said it enough, Karen and Edwin, thank you for trusting me.

My second reason that I loved this session was much was because I was shooting with cherry blossoms. For those of you who are familiar with my art, you will know that I am obsessed with cherry blossoms, among other things. I love the 3 weeks in Vancouver, Canada when there are tree-size cotton candies all over the city. These baby pink, hot pink and ivory white eye candies are such visual treats when I drive around town. In my mind, these cherry blossoms represent Vancouver as much as they represent Japan. I am so glad that Karen and Edwin asked for cherry blossoms for their engagement session.

My third reason: I am working with one of my favourite make-up artists in the world. Annie Chang is a talented make-up artist in the Lower Mainland. I love how she pays attention to details, and how she renders faces so flawlessly. Annie is one of my most-trusted make-up artist.

What’s really neat is that Annie is actually the mutual friend who introduced me to Karen in the first place years ago, when everyone was still in school!

Do check out Annie’s work at www.acmakeup.ca I know she’s already quite booked up in 2010. In fact, there is a chance that Annie won’t be able to work with me on Karen’s big day because she was pre-booked for that day last year. We’re all so disappointed…If you are researching for your wedding 2011, give Annie a call!

Thank YOU Edwin and Karen for being so beautiful on your engagement session day. I have no doubt you will look so much more stunning on your wedding day!
