After seeing the high number of hits on the “Edwin and Karen Engagement Session” blog entry, I realized there is an interest to see my extended portfolio on my blog. It was not my original intention to post more images on my blog. However, I am completely happy to do that!

My family session last Friday at Jericho Beach was one of my best sessions for many reasons. First of all, the two gorgeous girls T and S were mesmerized in my studio. They immediately pointed out their favourite pieces, and couldn’t stop looking at other works. You can’t resist cute little girls who also love your works?

Not only that, at the end of the session when the two wee ones were put in the car and I waved goodbye, they asked Mommy, “Is Michelle going to sushi with us?” Awww…that is just too cute!

The weather couldn’t have coorperated better. We were worried for the past 2 weeks, and wonder if we needed to postpone the session. It was overcast–ideal weather for portraits. As I was driving away from the beach, it started pouring onto my car. It was raining so hard that the rain sounded like beans hitting the car. You know the kind of rain I am talking about?

Going through all the portraits in my studio, I was quite touched by some of the portraits, especially the ones with just Mommy and S. The images reminded me of my relationship with my mother. I looked quite similar to little S when I was little–I was chubby and had short hair. I wish I had portraits like these with my parents when I was a little girl–portraits that tell me how much my mother loved me and took care of me when I was tiny and making lots of trouble. Now I would give anything to have a portrait like this.

I take photos of my family fairly frequently, though in an amateur manner.

I admire the natural touch in your photos. Can you be less than selfish to shed some lights on how can the photograhper or the Mom help make the youngsters cute and be themselves but behaving.

    Oh Michelle,

I missed you very much while I’m in Hong Kong.

Yes a pity that you didn’t have good portraits of your good old (should be young) days. On reflection you should be thankful for your parents giving you the opportunity to develop your artistic skills which were deprived from your parents (opportunity not given by your grandparents in turn).

Do carry on to help fmailies of your patrons with memorable portraits.

Thank you Mama for the comment. It really is too bad that when you talk about how cute I was as a baby, or my doodlings (masterpieces?) on the walls, I can only imagine now. However, I am grateful for the emotional support you have always given me with Papa in my creative journey.

I know that one day when the children in my portraits grows up, they will appreciate the portraits that show how much their parents love them.

Yes, certainly I am more than happy to give some thoughts on DIY family photography. I will write a blog entry within the next 2 weeks! Stay tuned!

I don’t know anything about photography, or have any artistic talent, but I really admire the passion you have for your work!
