Family Portraits on Crescent Beach, White Rock.
by snow on Apr.22, 2011, under blog
Last weekend, at 1.5 weeks away from my departure, I did my last family portrait session. It was at Crescent Beach in White Rock. I had always heard of the beach, and had always wanted to go. I heard sunrise is beautiful on Crescent Beach, although I have never managed to go. I am glad my last family portrait clients chose their neighbourhood beach as the backdrop of their family portraits. As I always tell my clients, choose a location that has personal meaning to the family. The portraits are, after all, for the family.
This portrait session is especially important because the twins (yes, they are twins!) are leaving home for college! If they are like most of my clients, this is likely to be the last family portrait for decades to come! I am glad after months of phone tagging and organizing, we finally scheduled the session!
I must give special thanks to the young lady and gentleman’s corporation to get up early on a Sunday morning. And it was COLD! I had my winter coat and scarf, and I was still cold! These poor things only had a thin shirt on. On top of that, the young lady already had a cold! Good thing she’s so naturally beautiful that it doesn’t show in the portraits! They may never forget how they rushed to their coats as soon as they had a short break!
I am very happy with my last family portrait session (for a while) in Vancouver. The portraits have been rush-produced, and I can now spend the rest of my time organizing for my departure.
I contemplate whether to continue doing outdoor family portraits in Hong Kong. It is a special honour to record a family in their best light. So I believe I will continue.
If you like the portraits, let me know and leave a comment here!

Vancouver is notorious for its wet climate. Although my portrait sessions have been blessed with good weather most of the times, there are the occassional times when it definitely rains cats and dogs and donkeys and dolphins throughout the session. My last session with the M family was sure the case. (continue reading…)
